Sandy City, like most of the areas around Salt Lake City was founded by pioneers back in 1863 who used its land for agriculture.  It reportedly obtained it’s name because of the “sandy” soil that needed lots of water to grow crops. Makes sense to me.

Sandy City is located on the east side of the valley (right up to the Wasatch Mountains) from about 80th South to around 123 rd South, with a small stretch west of 1-15 to about 700 West.

Sandy has great transportation options (especially if you are going downtown) with Trax and buses that will get you pretty much wherever you want to go (Including one of the 7 ski resorts within 30 minutes of the Salt Lake Valley).

There are lots of shopping and entertainment options within Sandy City including South Towne Mall, South Town Market Place, Jordan Commons, Rio Tinto Stadium ( Real Soccer and lots of summer concerts and events), South Towne Convention Center, Sandy Amphitheater (great summer musicals and concerts)and plenty of  mouth watering restaurants.

Schools in Sandy City are part of the Canyons School District, and you can read and research them here.

Real estate in Sandy is diverse as well from condos in the low to mid $150s to million dollar homes in exclusive Pepperwood and just about everything in between.  We have broken it down for you below.
